Biologics
Biological agents are drugs derived from organisms, such as humans, plants, animals or microorganisms. They can target specific parts of the human immune system to treat diseases that have problems with the immune system.
Psoriasis and eczema are caused by immune system disorders. In the patient’s body, the amount of interleukin increases, which can lead to inflammation, redness, itching and rash.
Conventional drugs for the treatment of psoriasis or eczema are effective by inhibiting the entire immune system, and there is a chance of side effects during the treatment process. On the contrary, biological agents can be more accurate and only treat those chemicals that cause psoriasis or eczema.
Biological agents have relatively few side effects. Because the targets they hit are precise, they do not affect the entire immune system like general immune inhibitors. They are a major progress in modern medical drug treatment. However, biological agents should still be considered to have the effect of inhibiting the immune system, and the possibility of tuberculosis infection should be ruled out before they can be started before treatment.
Biological agents are usually limited to patients with moderate to severe skin diseases, such as psoriasis, eczema and chronic urticaria.
